i have been spending a lot of time dreaming recently. both with Amelia & now with Louise.
as a result of this dreaming i have begun to put names to my dreams or intentions & i now either write them down or visualise them creatively which seems to help me focus & create small steps towards reaching them.
once such dream was of having an open fire.
i have always been drawn to open fires. i find watching the flames mesmerising.
& there is something so primitive & connected to the spirit in creating and lighting a fire too.
ritualistic even.
the dream of having my own fire has been with me for 15 years after a friend taught me to create one whilst on holiday in the fireplace of a tiny cottage in oxfordshire one very cold winter.
it is curious that in the year two thousand11, after being in this house for 11 years & of 11 being a very significant number for me that finally the dream has been realised.
so on Tuesday night with friends we enjoyed our first fire... sigh....
our first fire
so go on, put a name to your dream and see if this helps you focus on taking steps to achieve it.

note the fire place bottom right
i am also wanting to create those gorgeous velvet floor cushions!

.....I love open fires too - specially with the rsin hammering on the window and low lighting - bliss on a stick - x

What a lovely post and such a good idea, you have inspired me to think about creating my own collage of dreams. Enjoy your fire.

beautiful - we have had open fires and a wood burner for the past 10 years and I would never change it. In fact, if we ever move house an open fire and lots of natural light are my soul needs - much more important than the number of bedrooms of colour of decor. Enjoy your beautiful fire :) So glad you realised your dream...

Oh I am so glad your dream came true - our fire is my constant companion at this time of year and I love it. Although with my Hubby working in China for two weeks I have to admit the day to day care is beginning to pall! Keep warm xx

Lovely to hear this dream came true, Ginny. I know what you mean about gazing into a real fire, there is something almost hypnotic about it- maybe its because it goes so far back in our genetic history? Your collage is lovely. Enjoy your art and your fire light - and have a wonderful weekend. Helen x

Dear Ginny
I'm so pleased for you and your real fire looks gorgeous. You'll be spending many a late winter evening snuggled up beside it. I too have dreamed of a fire for many a moon and we do hope to have a chimney built sometime this year, so maybe next year I can join you in flame watching :-)
Happy days to you,
Denise x
Happy New Year too - I don't think I've wished you this so far!

I love an open fire, the crackle, the smell, the pictures in the flames. We have a woodburner and often have the door open to enjoy the fire more.
What other dreams will you turn into reality this year? x

For some reason your words really speak to me. They are most appropriate for a new year but also I think that perhaps I have some dreams I need to touch :)

Happy New Year Ginny! I love your post ~ this is a dream that I share, but I think it may be a little while longer before I can make this one a reality.
