i have a very talented friend. her name is Janet.
some of you may already know her.
she has a delightful blog where she shares snippets of her life and creations.
it is through our blogs that we first met, realising that we lived but 10 minutes from each other.
we like to meet up and eat cake.
On my last visit Janet gave me a copy of her first book 'Freya and Fred'.
I also have a signed copy to giveaway!
This little book is charmingly written and beautifully designed!
Freya is a girl and Fred is her dog. the book traces a week in their lives, including going to school, having a picnic and hosting a party. There is a gorgeous quilt project for each day plus little stitcheries and lots of other ideas for smaller projects using Janet's unique jointed templates which bring life and movement to Freya, Fred and their friends.
the whole flavour is very nostalgic and i love the variation outfits for Freya that are added as you read through the book. If you, like me, loved playing dress up dolls as a child then you will have heaps of fun putting her wardrobe together!
there is also a handy little How do I...? section for advice on freehand machine embroidery, applique and hand embroidery techniques at the back. my 11 year old was enthralled by this and all the different possibilites for creating Freya's face, hair and features. i am looking forward to working through the book with her.
there is even a patttern for a little doll and instuctions on how to make her papier mache bed , not to mention her bed linen and tiny hexagon quilt.
so far i have made one project from Freya and Fred. i just couldn't resist it...
i made Fred! he is tiny and stitched in wool felt. He is included in the giveaway too.
So if you would love a chance to win this charming book and my wee tiny Fred, then please leave me a comment. I shall randomly pick a winner next Sunday 27th November 12noon GMT
oh and if you can't bear to wait that long and would like to buy a copy you can purchase one from Janet's Etsy shop

Oooh Ginny, it looks absolutely Gorgeous, I for one would love to win! I love your 'Fred' he's adorable, my little one would love him :-)
