firstly i want to say thank you for the lovely comments about some of the things i have been noticing this week... i am hoping to continue with this series for the rest of october. i think stopping and noticing helps us to slow down and focus on all those small but amazing things which are often missed in our modern busy lives... if you would care to join me 'noticing' for october please let me know and i will add a button on my side bar linking to your blogs.
today i would like to share a little homemade present that i created with my daughter yesterday...
i love making presents and this sweet cushion was made for my youngest daughter's best friend who loves horses. my daughter chose the fabrics and we designed the cushion together.
the horse was taken from a template which my amazingly talented friend janet gave us and which you can purchase in her shop. it is from a blanket pattern but we decided to use it on a cushion. my youngest drew out the shape onto bondaweb and as her friend likes dappled gray's chose this soft vintage print for her horse from my stash. a soft green was chosen for the grass and the starry sky print was chosen to represent 'twilight' (the name her friend calls her imaginary horse in their play) and is recycled from a shirt .for the back of the cushion we recycled a beautiful soft cream corduroy pair of jeans and i used the back jean pocket, cut it down a little and added it to the reverse of the cushion as a tiny pocket for messages or secrets...it was really satisfying working with the corduroy and i shall now be on the look out for some more jeans to recycle.
i was also pleased to find these cute buttons in my stash too ... they have a lovely organic feel and look like they have little bits of straw in...
to accompany the gift we made a simple 'horsey' birthday card ...
i really enjoyed this present making project particularly as it was created in collaboration with my wee girl... and also it was good to get back to my sewing machine which has been neglected these past few weeks..
hope you are enjoying your saturday...
happy weekendx
the cushion looks great! It is always lovely to see what people have made with one of my designs.

This is gorgeous! Such a simple and effective idea and it sounds as though you've had a lot of satisfaction in the creative process. Thank you for sharing - do let us know how it is received by the Birthday Girl !

Oh my, that is wonderful! And such thought that went into it. How lovely, too, that your daughter played such a part...

Ginny,
your creativity is inspiring!
I love the cohesiveness of developing a little theme - what a wonderful gift. I can't wait until H and I can collaborate on little projects together. I can't wait to see what he comes out with...
