this time of year always seems to be very busy for me... i often end up feeling stressed and a little under pressure. ~ this year has been no exception as there are oodles of projects still to plan and to lead and to write about.
this is another reason why i think that stopping to look and notice and keeping connected to the wonders of life that we often take for granted are so important in order to keep everything in perspective.
this morning i got up early and collected golden leaves from under these trees...
it was raining this morning as i gathered the leaves into my bright blue tub and although cold and wet, it was immensely pleasurable... it was fascinating to look carefully at each leaf and to notice their varying shapes and sizes and their subtle changes in colour. i also felt thankful for these gifts from nature which the children will enjoy carefully adding to their art work.
leaves have to be one of my favourite gifts from the autumn along with pine cones. (diana agrees with me on the pine cones).what are your favourite's ?
I love the leaves as well, especially ones that are red or bronze. What a fun project, the kids are going to love it, good luck. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Oh, and I did see that I can buy your book over here, sorry, not sure how I missed that, lack of sleep I expect.

I like the top photo with the leaves in the foreground. You obviously had better weather than us this morning, it was pouring with rain when I woke up. Good luck making angels tomorrow.

The golden leaves certainly look striking against the bright blue tub. I would imagine that leaf gathering is quite a pleasurable experience! Enjoy your day helping to make angels! x

All those golden leaves I wouldn't know where to stop when collecting for pressing and I think they are one of my favourites of Autumn, but the thing that hits my top spot is the earthy smoky smell of Autumn.

I love the leaves too. Still feeling a bit out of place from my countryside, I have a few trees that that I love in our urban surroundings. We have a great big ginkgo in front of our home that continues to shower bright yellow leaves upon the sidewalk. I miss the pinecones and the milkweed pods and the other signs of autumn, but that tree especially makes me smile enough right now.

It is lovely to concentrate on the gold of November and not the leaden skies. I have a line of Jack Be Little miniature pumpkins all along my kitchen mantel and they are bringing a bit of sunshine into the gloom!

Ah what a nice idea to do with the kids...pumpkins are my autumn treat really...I also like that time in the morning when you see all the spider cobwebs collecting in bushes and trees...and sometimes the odd mushroom peeping through the wet grass...xxx
