today i am thankful for the opportunity to teach... i adore teaching and find it immensely rewarding.
the kids were really pleased and seemed to really enjoy the collaging process. i am really pleased with how the leafy wings turned out...
i had collected oak leaves, beech leaves, wisteria leaves and maple leaves... and each child chose which ones to add to their picture. the staff are going to display them on a wall in school so i shall go back and take some final pictures next week.
i also wanted to share this post from the frugal family fun blog which i saw this morning about creating a gratitude activity jar... a brilliant idea! please do go and take a look.wishing you a happy thursday. x
Fantastic. Very proud of you xxxx

ginny, these are beyond... gosh. i can't even think of a word. they are so precious. and absolutely works of art. would i be the proudest mother if my child came home with one of those.
i did not know you were a teacher. i think that is just so wonderful. my twin actually got her degree in education. she wanted to teach 3rd grade, but after college, she got caught up in the world of real estate and has been doing that and property management ever since. we both wanted to teach when we were growing up, and so i was excited when she took that path so that i could live vicariously through her. she would have been such a good teacher.
i imagine that you are. just from what i know of you and your blog, you seem like you would be a natual and really gifted with children. i think that is so commendable.
well, thanks for sharing the angels. they really are so lovely. have a great day!

How the children have used the leaves in the construction of the collages is very good. Was it your idea to use angels as the subject? They are lovely. I wonder if the children could take them home to display in their own homes at Christmas time? I followed your link and really like the idea of a gratitude jar. x

hi everyone and thank you for your comments...
teaching this age group is new for me (since June this year with my previous experience being with ages 14 and up) but i am loving it... i chose angels as the children have been studying them in religious ed this term. they are also going to be looking at textile collage this month in class so this was a good practical introdution into getting 'stuck in' (pun intended!) whilst looking at and talking about different materials which can be used for collages.
although each group only had an hour to create their pictures i felt it was important for each child to have their own piece which they will eventually take home for christmas.
hope this answers your comments/questions.

What a great idea - to use the leaves as wings. Well done you.
I sometimes go into school to help with 'art' - the teacher hates art and I love it! The collage sessions are always messy but fun.
