i used my vintage cotton reels photo, printed on to fabric for the front cover and added a few scattered buttons for embellishment.
i wanted my folder to be practical as well as decorative (it holds my notes for our young stitchers sewing club) so i created two pockets to hold scissors and pencils inside the front.
The fabric i used for this is very special to me as it was my mother-in-laws (she sadly is no longer with us). i know she would approve of how i have used it as she loved to sew.
i also added a place to hold my sewing needles so that they are handy for class.
the little closed pocket inside the back cover holds my patterns and wee little sample projects.(the yo yo brooches we made yesterday are in there just now)
i really enjoyed creating this project and giving a new lease of life to my tired old ring binder.
there are so many possibilities for other designs too and i like the idea that i can make use of some of my photographs.
i am thinking maybe a vegetable record folder next as the growing season has commenced here!what would you do?
I LOVE that!!! I'm obsessed with all things for "organisation" (although I'm not really that organised myself - one day!) That's such a fantastic idea though & it's so personal.

A fabulous lease of life Ginny and something I would personally love and cherish too - just up my quirky street.

Really pretty and practical Ginny. If I could make covers like that I would be covering everything! x

A brilliant idea, Ginny, I love it! I'm a real one for tearing pages out of magazines so, as well as a folder for sewing inspiration, I could imagine one for recipes and another for home design ideas. Any chance of a little tutorial...?

This is soooo lovely, Ginny! Very pretty and practical--I love that! The pockets, space for needles and bits & bobs and all you need...really well done! Makes me want to put pretty covers on everything--LOL! There is something so soft and tender about these photos... Happy Days :o) ((HUGS))

Very pretty, and I love the idea of doing a gardening one. I'm just starting to plan the garden this year, and that would be perfect. Very nice job, it looks beautiful. Oh, and I could do one with all my torn out bits for my dream home/land.

A gardening folder would be great with pockets for packets of seeds and pictures of the garden on the cover. Its a pity that my imagination is far greater than my sewing ability!!

That's brilliant - beautiful and relly practical too - I know it's the wrong time of year but a christmas one would be good - with all the lists and addresses and recipes......?

I so, so, want one of those! oh to be able to have a portable sewing folder with things to hand.
Looks much more professional than rooting around the inside of a too big box. Not that I think you would ever do that anyway; let's be truthful here - that is a vision of me. Next project I think.
Great images as ever Ginny,
